Friday Song

A few friends of mine used to e-mail on a daily basis. It was a large group consisting of about 8 of us. Mostly women, a couple of guys. We would post a song on Friday that would describe our week, or our mood, or just something that spoke to us. It became a great way to get to know the person a little better. Music is a very personal thing.

I miss this group of e-mailing friends. We broke up the e-mail circle because a few people had words. That makes me sad. Things should be able to be said with friends and if it is not appreciated, or over the line then as a friend you should be able to talk about it and let it go.
I also miss Friday Song. So I think I will start posting my Friday Song here.

This gives me an opportunity to reflect on the past week and to decide what has transpired, or what has inspired me. There are quite a few songs going through my head, but for the most part I have been singing the same song over and over again because of the hope it reflects. This has been a very stressful week for me and my family. We will make it through. A little worn out, but in the end it will be ok. That's what family is for.

So here is my song:

Brooks & Dunn
Believe

Old man Wrigley lived in that white house
Down the street where I grew up
Momma used to send me over with things
We struck a friendship up

I spent a few long summers out on his old porch swing
Says he was in the war when in the navy
Lost his wife, lost his baby
Broke down and asked him one time
How ya keep from going crazy
He said I'll see my wife and son in just a little while
I asked him what he meant
He looked at me and smiled, said

(Chorus)
I raise my hands, bow my head
I'm finding more and more truth in the words written in red
They tell me that there's more to life than just what I can see
Oh I believe

Few years later I was off at college
Talkin' to mom on the phone one night
Getting all caught up on the gossip
The ins and outs of the small town life
She said oh by the way son, old man Wrigley has died.
Later on that night, I laid there thinkin' back
Thought 'bout a couple long-lost summers
I didn't know whether to cry or laugh
If there was ever anybody who deserved a ticket to the other side
It'd be that sweet old man who looked me in the eye, said

(Chorus)
I raise my hands, bow my head
I'm finding more and more truth in the words written in red
They tell me that there's more to life than just what I can see

I can't quote the book
The chapter or the verse
You can't tell me it all ends
In a slow ride in a hearse
You know I'm more and more convinced
The longer that I live
Yeah, this can't be
No, this can't be
No, this can't be all there is

(Chorus)
When I raise my hands, bow my head
I'm finding more and more truth in the words written in red
They tell me that there's more to life than just what I can see
I believe
Oh, I
I believe
I believe
I believe
I believe
I believe

After the last few weeks of my life I believe more than ever. Thank you to all my friends who have kept my family in their prayers and in their hearts.

People can be difficult. I don't have many in my life.
I've been hanging around BeachBody for 3 years - that's a very long time.
When that ends (I'm sure at some point it will), it will be sad for me.
